A Glimpse of the Borobudur Temple
Borobudur is the largest temple in Indonesia. Borobudur temple is located in Magelang, Central Java, besides being a famous tourist attraction, the temple is a center of worship for Buddhists in Indonesia, particularly Waisak each celebration. Borobudur temple is also known as “monastery in the mountains” because it is in the hills.
. This Buddhist temple has 1460 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. Samaratungga Borobudur was built by a king of the Old Kingdom of Mataram, Sailendra descendants. Gunadarma is the architect of record as someone who is well built this temple.
The base of Borobudur, called K?madh?tu, symbol of human beings which are still bound by lust. Four levels above represents R?padh?tu, human beings are freed from lust, but always linked to appearance and form. Borobudur temple as a whole consists of ten levels, which consists of six levels of a level of square, round three and a generally circular stupa at the latest. At each level, there are several stupas. In total there are 72 addition to the domes of the main stupa.
On the wall is a wall relief of Borobudur temple, which has a legendary story of Ramayana. All relief panels in Borobudur temple reflect the teachings of Buddha. Therefore, this temple of the functions that the means of education for people who want to learn Buddhism
