Chapter 5:
This song is attributed to Rhonda Fleming. Rhonda Fleming's real name is Marilyn Louis. This may have contributed to the song's accidental inclusion in various MM compilations. Around 1957, Columbia released an LP called 'Rhonda', by Rhonda Fleming. On this album she sings a number of popular songs, with an orchestral backing. One of the songs is 'When I Fall in Love'.
But, Rhonda checked out the version attributed to Marilyn and denies that it is her (Rhonda) singing. Rhonda agrees it doesn't sound like Marilyn either. Rhonda was sweet enough to mail me a compilation CD of her songs including her version of "When I Fall In Love". It is not the same version included on Marilyn's CDs. This last info of her, my friend Bill provided me. and he said me that Sandra's version is the version attributed to Marilyn on most of her CD releases since 1985. The song is on the B-side of Sandra's 1st record release, the A-Side being "Dear Johnny". The record was released in 1960 on Decca Records. The record wasn't a hit and thus became an obscurity. Sandra Dee, she was in several teen movies in the late 1950's & '60's.
