Light-hearted, old-style romance about a farm-hand who arranges to buy a pair of mules from his employer. No one is able to handle the mules and he must train them. Adding to his dilemma, he pursues his boss's daughter who gets her kicks out of keeping him guessing about her true feelings. Of course, at the end he tames both the mules and the girl.
Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! was filmed by 20th Century Fox in Technicolor in 1948 and is 98 minutes long. It was directed by F. Hugh Herbert and produced by Walter Morosco with screenplay by F. Hugh Herbert from a novel by George Andrew Chamberlain. The cinematographer was Ernest Palmer.
The cast included: June Haver, Lon McCallister, Walter Brennan, Ann Revere, Natalie Wood, Robert karnes, Henry Hull, Tom Tully, Les MacGregor, Ken Christy.
Scudda Hoo! Scudda Hay! is generally recognized as the first movie made by Marilyn Monroe. The movie's only distinction is that it introduced the world to Marilyn, otherwise it is much fuss made about two mules. 58 minutes into the film Marilyn can be seen (you might miss her if you blink) walking down the church steps saying, "Hi, Rad", to which June Haver responds "Oh, high Betty.
There was a slightly longer scene featuring Marilyn in a row boat that goes directly in front of the camera, but this scene hit the editing floor.
